But Supportive!
Anthony Road Wine Company has been crafting Finger Lakes fine wines for 30 years and growing premium grapes for nearly 50 years. Founded by Ann and John Martini in 1973, this family owned and run business has tirelessly worked to become one of the Finger Lakes’ premier wine producers and grape growers. A visit to the winery is an immersion in the unique expression of the west side of Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, NY.
Now in its fourth generation, Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery, has been one of the most prestigious wineries in the Finger Lakes wine region since 1962. Located on Keuka Lake a few miles north of Hammondsport, Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery has long been associated with the New York wine revolution. Its founder, Dr. Konstantin Frank, helped pioneer the introduction of the European vitis vinifera grapevines in the eastern United States. The vineyards on Keuka Lake are home to some of the oldest vines in the U.S. and it’s been documented that the Pinot Noir vines are the second oldest in America.
Fox Run Vineyards celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2020. Its 20,000-case production includes three fortified wines and a Chardonnay-based sparkling wine along with the usual Finger Lakes suspects. Fox Run was named one of the top 100 wineries in the world by Wine and Spirits magazine in 2008, the first US winery east of the Mississippi to be thus honored.
Hector Wine Company is a small Finger Lakes winery dedicated to making handcrafted wines with a particular focus on dry reds. The winery’s portfolio embodies a deep commitment to making wines that reflect centuries old family farm, Sawmill Creek Vineyards, where HWC partner Jason Hazlitt is the seventh generation grower. The winery was founded by Hazlitt and veteran Finger Lakes winemaker, Justin Boyette, in 2009 and built upon a shared vision for craft, community and collaboration.
Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard spans 90-acres of prime vineyard sites on the western slopes of Seneca Lake and the wines are among the most acclaimed in the region. Estate fruit is hand-harvested and hand-sorted, and vineyard qualities are worked in small lots and then blended to create wines of balance and texture. Fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts to ensure each wine embodies the truest expression of site. Our commitment to place draws on the same forward-thinking techniques and respect for the past that has fueled our mission since Hermann’s first block of Riesling was planted over forty years ago.
Hosmer Winery, a fourth generation family farm, is located on bucolic Cayuga Lake. With grapevine plantings dating back to the 1970s – and early experiments with plantings of classic Vinifera – owners Cameron and Maren Hosmer established their estate winery in 1985 on the principle that great wine starts in the vineyard. To this day the wine portfolio reflects, and celebrates, only what is grown on their 70 acres. In recent years the next generation in the Hosmer family, Timothy Hosmer, has started to take over vineyard management along with the Hosmer family grapevine planting business, Benchmark Vineyard Planting.
Leidenfrost Vineyards is an Estate Winery located on the southeastern shore of Seneca Lake, an ideal microclimate to grow Vinifera wine grapes. Founded in 1990 by John Leidenfrost Jr., it is one of the first Finger Lakes wineries to feature a broad spectrum of estate grown red wines. They also produce an array of refreshing and delicious whites as well as sparkling and port-style wines. Each vintage is created in small batches to reflect the uniqueness of their terroir, and their small but mighty tasting room is dedicated to providing a unique, fun and memorable experience.
Red Newt Cellars and Bistro was founded in 1998 by Dave and Debra Whiting to be at the forefront of Finger Lakes winemaking and farm-focused cuisine. With this spirit as inspiration, Kelby and the current winemaking team have only furthered Red Newt’s reputation for world-class, powerful Rieslings, joyful reds, and an experimental wine program that stretches from Sekts to Sherries. Embracing spontaneous fermentations, lees contact, cold soaking, and basket pressing, Red Newt’s wines are designed to open up in bottle for years to come.

Sheldrake Point Winery is named for the prominent point of land on which it sits, located on the western shore of Cayuga Lake. Operated as an orchard and dairy farm from 1850 to the mid-1980s, the 155-acre lakeshore farm lay fallow until 1997 when a small group of wine enthusiasts organized the purchase of the land and founded the winery. Today, Sheldrake Point Winery continues the agricultural tradition with 60 acres of vineyard planted to 10 vitis vinifera varieties, which are used to make approximately 8,500 cases of estate-grown, -produced, and -bottled table and ice wines.
